The KIPDA Freight Design Guide provides transportation administrators guidance on how to integrate freight into the existing roadway system and future transportation projects. By incorporating freight design into the community, we can mitigate future impacts to regional livability and other transportation modes. The Freight Design Guide serves as a reference for project planners as well as an educational piece to better understand the impact of freight on our communities.

TSWDG provided graphic design and communication assistance throughout the project, including formatting the design guide and providing narrative and graphics for freight design considerations. These freight design considerations examine best practices within the context of urban, suburban, and rural cross sections. The guide analyzes how freight design can work as part of a multimodal transportation solution and explores freight topics of interest including access management, innovative intersection design, interchanges, technology and navigation, and truck parking.
