Zoning Ordinances and Regulations

Morgan County UDO

Morgan County, Indiana

PROJECT SUMMARY.

Morgan County sits between two bustling populations in Indiana, Indianapolis and Bloomington. While generally rural in natural, infrastructure such as Interstate 69 promises growth and development pressure near the corridor. The current Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision Control Regulations were adopted in 2001 and do not respond to the County’s vision established as part of the Morgan County Comprehensive Plan or today’s development trends and needs.

Taylor Siefker Williams Design Group was hired by Morgan County in late 2020 to develop a Unified Development Ordinance for the County. The new Morgan County Unified Development Ordinance provides a more predictable development review process, has an improved organization and is more user-friendly, as well as addresses localized issues and challenges in Morgan County and promotes the County’s overarching vision. TSWDG has also assisted in zoning map update, Plan Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals applications, fee schedule and FAQ brochures as well as a local officials training.
